Sunny spells and showers. Posted by Brian Gaze

Yesterday was the hottest day of the year so far with 30.3°C reached at Heathrow. However, a change is now taking place as a weak weather front slowly clears southeastwards today, introducing cooler conditions. In the north there will be showers and in the north west they could merge to give longer spells of rain. The next few days are looking quite mixed, but the driest and warmest periods are likely to be in the south. (If you would like to browse the website without adverts and contribute to its ongoing development, explore the payment options, see below)

UK weather discussion

A change in the weather will take place today. An area of cloud pushes southeastwards across central and southern regions, and it brings a few light spells of rain. To the north and west there will be sunny spells, but showers develop and more persistent outbreaks of rain push into the north west of the UK. Windy, particularly in the north and west.

The highest temperatures will be in East Anglia and the far south east where 26°C may be reached. In the north and west it will be much cooler, with values ranging from 13°C to 19°C. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.
