UK weather discussion

Outbreaks of rain in southern and central regions clear eastwards this morning. All areas then have a mix of sunny spells and showers. The showers will be heavy and thundery in places, particularly in the north and west this afternoon. Quite windy in the southern half of the UK.

Cool for July. Temperatures range from 11°C in the far north to 18°C in England and Wales. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Tonight, showers become more scattered, with many inland areas becoming dry. However, there is a risk of patchy outbreaks of rain pushing eastwards over southern coastal counties.

Tomorrow, showers become more widespread and some will be heavy again. Nonetheless, in sunny spells temperatures are likely to be a little higher than yesterday's.

Unsettled next week

During the first half of next week an area of low pressure will push up from the southwest. It brings the potential for a period of very wet conditions in much of the UK on Tuesday and Wednesday. As it pulls away brighter and showery conditions return. Temperatures remain on the low side for July.
