Temperatures continue to climb today and tomorrow, with a possibility of 33C being reached. If that happens tomorrow will be the hottest day of the year so far. However, by Wednesday the risk of thundery downpours increases and through the rest of the week low pressure systems start to move in from the Atlantic. Tonight outbreaks of rain in the north west gradually fade away, but it remains damp in western Scotland. Elsewhere it remains dry and with temperatures in much of England not dipping below 17°C to 20°C it will be quite uncomfortable for sleeping, particularly in the cities.
Tomorrow much of the UK will have long sunny periods, but in the north west thicker cloud could bring a few spots of rain at times. Warm or very warm in much of the UK, and hot in the south where temperatures could reach 32°C or even 33°C locally. It may be the hottest day of the year so far.

Developments become more uncertain from Wednesday onwards. Thundery downpours may push northwards from France, and there is a possibility of cloud and rain starting to move in from the Atlantic as pressure falls. A more changeable theme is likely to become established through the second half of the week. Temperatures will be dipping, although it could stay warm in the south until the weekend.
