Thundery downpours push northwards today, but conditions vary locally and some places remain dry. The heaviest ones are likely to be in central parts of Britain, where flash flooding could lead to travel disruption. By the late afternoon their northern extent is likely to be Northern Ireland and southern Scotland. Drier conditions follow into the south and in sunny spells it becomes very warm.
Temperatures range from 17°C in the far north to 28°C in the south east. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Tonight, the thundery showers continue pushing northwards. Also, further heavy showers move up from the southwest to affect much of the UK by the morning.
Tomorrow, showers are likely in much of the southern half of the UK, whilst longer spells of rain are possible in the north. There will be some spells of sunshine too, with the best of them in central and eastern England. That's also where the highest temperatures are expected to be.
UK Met UKV, Monday 2nd September [Tap animation to toggle cities]
Showery conditions are likely on Tuesday and Wednesday, but with slow moving areas of low pressure close to the UK there is a lot of uncertainty about the details. It could start to become drier in the north as high pressure builds in from the Atlantic. Through the second half of the week the north could remain mostly dry, but in the south there is an ongoing risk of showers or even longer outbreaks of rain.
