Heavy outbreaks of rain affect parts of southern Britain again today, with warm and dry conditions further north. Things remain quite mixed this weekend, but the north can expect the best of the weather for much of the time. Issued 5th September 2024
There will be a massive contrast in the weather today over a relative small distance. Heavy outbreaks of rain affect much of southern Britain at times today, and overcast skies suppress temperatures notably. However, in central and northern areas summer continues and it will be warm or very warm in the sunny areas.
Temperatures range from 14°C in the south to 27°C in central areas. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

UK Met UKV, Friday 6th September [Tap animation to toggle cities]
This evening the rain in the south may push a little further north before the heaviest outbreaks clear westwards. The northern half of the UK remains dry.
Tomorrow, the north retains the fine weather. In the south cloud conditions are likely and in the afternoon heavy outbreaks of rain may push up across southern counties again. Warm or very warm in the sunny areas.
UK Met UKV, Saturday 7th September [Tap animation to toggle cities]
Things remain mixed through the next few days. The risk of rain probably becomes more widespread in England and Wales on Sunday as the area of low pressure responsible for the unsettled weather in the south pushes northwards. Scotland and Northern Ireland stay mostly dry.
Towards the middle of the week a band of rain is expected to push southeastwards. It is followed by cool and showery conditions. Some rather cold nights are possible for the time of the year, especially in the north.
