A big change in the weather will be taking place today. Outbreaks of rain in the north steadily push southwards, reaching the south of England this afternoon. The band of rain will be quite narrow, but there could be some heavy bursts mixed in. Brighter and much cooler conditions follow behind it, but there will be showers in the north and west. A strong wind adds to the cold feel.
Temperatures range from 8°C in northern Scotland to 18°C near the south coasts of England. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Tonight, the area of rain steadily clears southeastwards. Showers continue in the north and west, but other elsewhere it becomes dry with clear periods. Cold, with a ground frost developing in sheltered northern locations.
Tomorrow brings a mix of sunny spells and blustery showers. The heaviest of them are likely to be in the north and west, and over the Scottish mountains sleet or snow is possible. Accumulations are possible over the higher mountains. Feeling distinctly cold for the first half of September. Temperatures drop sharply overnight and ground frost could develop widely as winds ease.
UK Met UKV, Wednesday 11th September [Tap animation to toggle cities]
During the following couple of days the showers fade away and it becomes mostly dry. With lighter winds and slightly higher temperatures it will start to feel a little warmer, although the nights remain chilly. In fact, ground frost could be widespread, particularly early on Friday. However, the weekend sees more changeable weather and the risk of rain returning.
