The autumn equinox is at 1:43pm today and through the coming days there will be an autumnal feel to the weather. Today, heavy outbreaks of rain affect much of England and Wales today, but in Scotland and Northern Ireland it stays dry. Tonight and tomorrow bring more rain, leading to the likelihood of surface flooding and travel disruption in places. In the following days colder air spreads southwards. Heavy and thundery outbreaks of rain affect much of England and Wales through the course of the day. They are likely to lead to surface flooding and travel disruption in places. Despite that, some drier and brighter interludes are expected to develop.
In Scotland, Northern Ireland and probably northern England, it remains dry with sunny spells in western counties.
Temperatures range from 14°C in the north east to 21°C in East Anglia. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Tonight, heavy bursts of rain continue to be a risk in much of England and Wales. Scotland and Northern Ireland remain dry.
Tomorrow, the rain continues to fall in much of England and Wales, with further heavy bursts leading to an ongoing risk of surface flooding and travel disruption in places. Through Sunday and Monday over a month's worth of rain is likely to be recorded in some areas. Much of Scotland and Northern Ireland hold on to dry conditions, although in the far north it turns wet in the afternoon.

Tuesday could bring a mix of sunny spells and showers to southern and central regions as an area of low pressure moves away eastward. In the north of the UK, outbreaks of rain will likely be pushing southward, followed by colder conditions. During the middle of the week there may be further rain in the south, while the colder and showery weather in the north steadily feeds southward.
