UK weather discussion

Heavy and thundery outbreaks of rain affect much of England and Wales through the course of the day. They are likely to lead to surface flooding and travel disruption in places. Despite that, some drier and brighter interludes are expected to develop.

In Scotland, Northern Ireland and probably northern England, it remains dry with sunny spells in western counties.

Temperatures range from 14°C in the north east to 21°C in East Anglia. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Turning colder next week

Tuesday could bring a mix of sunny spells and showers to southern and central regions as an area of low pressure moves away eastward. In the north of the UK, outbreaks of rain will likely be pushing southward, followed by colder conditions. During the middle of the week there may be further rain in the south, while the colder and showery weather in the north steadily feeds southward.
