Heavy outbreaks of rain bring travel disruption and flooding to parts of England and Wales today. A respite is on the way tomorrow, but further heavy rain is possible during the middle of the week. Heavy outbreaks of rain affect much of England and Wales today. The heaviest bursts are likely to become focused on Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, central England and southern Wales this afternoon. The rain will lead to further flooding and travel disruption. Drier conditions will develop to the south, although a few heavy showers may develop. Areas to the north will be mostly dry, with the exception of northern Scotland where showery outbreaks of rain develop this afternoon.

Tonight, the area of heavy rain slowly moves eastwards. By the morning it is likely to be affecting the far south east and East Anglia. Wet conditions steadily push southwards in Scotland, but other parts of the UK become dry.
Tomorrow, the remnants of the rain clear from the south east. The wet conditions in Scotland slowly move southeastwards, with some heavy outbreaks of rain in north eastern Britain in the afternoon. Other areas are expected to be mostly dry.

During the middle of the week another area of low pressure tracks across central parts of the UK. It brings the likelihood of heavy rain to southern and central regions. The northern half of Scotland probably remains mostly dry and rather cold. Through Friday and into the weekend the colder conditions steadily push southwards. Frost may become widespread on some nights in the north.
