Heavy showers and persistent outbreaks of rain affect large parts of the UK today. They lead to the risk of further flooding and travel disruption. Drier conditions return tomorrow, but it will be cold. The weekend is looking mostly dry, although on Sunday the next area of low pressure is expected to be approaching from the southwest. Tonight, the rain steadily pushes southwards. By morning the wet conditions are expected to be affecting much of the south and East Anglia. Areas to the north and west will be under a cold northerly air stream, with scattered showers.
Tomorrow, outbreaks of rain in the south slowly clear, but they may linger in the south east well into the afternoon. Other areas have sunny spells and scattered showers. Over high ground in Scotland sleet and snow is possible. Low temperatures and a blustery northerly wind will make it feel very cold for the time of the year.
