Sunny and misty in places this morning after last nights heavy rain. Posted by toppiker60

A band of rain pushes in from the west today, but in central and eastern areas it remains dry. Tomorrow the rain slowly clears eastwards. Then it is all eyes to the west on Sunday as a rapidly deepening area of low pressure approaches. It brings the potential for windy conditions in much of the UK and in the north west it may be stormy, with some computer models forecasting gusts of over 80mph. (If you would like to browse the website without adverts and access premium features, see below)

14 day video weather forecast

Wet and windy in the west

In Northern Ireland and western Britain there will be patchy outbreaks of rain this morning. Through the afternoon the rain turns heavier and more persistent in the north west. Other areas remain dry and after early morning mist lifts there will be sunny spells for a time, but increasingly the bright conditions become restricted to central and eastern England. In the west winds strengthen and gales develop in north western coastal counties.

Temperatures range from 12°C to 17°C. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Tonight heavy spells of rain push southeastwards. By the morning they are likely to be affecting central and eastern England. Other areas have scattered showers.

Tomorrow the wet weather clears eastwards, but it will be a slow process with the rain possibly not clearing from East Anglia and the far south east until the late afternoon or evening.

Risk of stormy weather

During Sunday a band of rain spread eastwards, with the heaviest outbreaks in the north and west. Brighter conditions follow into the west, but there will be squally showers. It also turns very windy and in the north west there is a risk of stormy conditions.

Next week starts on a mixed note. However, high pressure is expected to build from the south during Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing drier conditions to much of the UK for a time. The risk of rain increasingly becomes confined to the north west.
