The weekend starts wet in central and eastern counties but drier conditions will be gradually returning from the west. Tomorrow Storm Ashley brings the likelihood of disruption to parts of the north, with wind gusts in north western coastal counties possibly exceeding 80mph. Outbreaks of rain in central and eastern England slowly clear today, lingering in the far east until the middle of the afternoon. To their north and west it will be mostly dry and bright, although scattered showers are likely in the north west.

Tonight wet and windy weather pushes across Northern Ireland and into western Britain. Gales develop in western coastal counties as Storm Ashley approaches. To the east it remains dry.
Tomorrow the band of rain clears eastwards to leave sunny spells and blustery showers. In the north west more prolonged outbreaks of rain return as the centre of Storm Ashley tracks close to northern Scotland. It will be very windy in the northern half of the UK. In north western coastal counties gusts of around 80mph are possible.

Next week starts on a mixed note. There could be heavy outbreaks of rain in southern and central regions to begin with, but in the following days high pressure is likely to have more influence in the south. Therefore, the wettest conditions can be expected in the north and particularly the north west. With winds coming from the west or southwest temperatures are likely to be close to or above the seasonal average for most of the time.
