A band of patchy rain pushes northwards today with brighter conditions following. The next few days will be mixed, with the wettest conditions in the northern half of the UK. A band of patchy rain pushes northeastwards across England and Wales today. Brighter conditions follow it, but scattered showers develop. There will be outbreaks of rain in Northern Ireland this morning, but they should clear to leave a drier afternoon. Much of Scotland has a dry day, although thicker cloud brings some light rain, particularly to the west.

Tonight the remnants of the band of rain clear northwards. However, by the morning heavy outbreaks of rain are likely to push into the far north and west of Scotland. In much of the rest of the UK it will be dry with clear periods, although there could be a few showers in the south west.
Tomorrow a band of heavy rain pushes southeastwards across Scotland and Northern Ireland. Showery conditions follow and it is likely to be cold enough for sleet or snow over the Scottish mountains. Showers are expected in Wales and western England, but central and eastern areas remain dry and bright.

The mixed theme continues for the next few days. Showers or longer spells of rain are possible in much of the UK, but the wettest conditions will generally be in the north. By the middle of next week a change is likely as high pressure builds and the weather turns more settled.
