Southern and central regions have another overcast day. In the north skies begin to clear behind a weak weather front which will be pushing southwards. Tomorrow some places may see the sun for the first time this month. Things become uncertain later in the week, with some computer models showing a plunge of cold Arctic air bringing wintry conditions to the UK. (If you would like to browse the website without adverts and access premium features, see below)

Patchy outbreaks of rain

Patchy outbreaks of rain push down across the northern half of the UK today. Brighter conditions follow into Northern Ireland and much of Scotland, but there will be showers in the north west. By late afternoon the rain will be affecting northern Wales, Lancashire and Yorkshire. Southern Britain remains dry and mostly overcast.

Temperatures range from 8°C to 15°C. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Tonight the band of rain fades away as it clears southwards. In central and northern areas clear periods lead to a ground frost in places.

Tomorrow is looking dry and bright in most of the UK, although isolated showers are possible in eastern England. In the far north west thicker cloud could bring some light rain. Ground frost probably develops widely overnight.

Colder late in the week?

The next few days are looking more mixed. Initially it is expected to be mostly dry and bright, but cloud amounts quickly build again. Also, the risk of rain increases in the north of the UK and eastern England. There are some indications that the rain could turn quite heavy in the south east for a time on Wednesday, but that is very uncertain at this range.

Later in the week much colder air may begin to push southwards. Computer models are showing a wide range of scenarios, so this is only a possibility at the moment.
