The quiet anticyclonic spell of weather continues today and tomorrow in most of the UK. However, Arctic air will be pushing southwards this weekend and the first half of next week is expected to be cold. Accumulating snow is most likely over high ground in the north, but it could fall to low levels too. The risk of snow in the south is lower, but it's not out of the question. Tonight patchy rain continues in the north west. Elsewhere it will be dry and clear periods could allow a touch of frost to develop in places.
Tomorrow there will be a lot of cloud, particularly in the north. During the afternoon outbreaks of rain push into northern and western Scotland. Elsewhere, it's another dry day.
UK Met UKV, Friday 15th November [Tap animation to toggle cities]
During the weekend a major change takes place. A band of patchy rain slowly pushes southeastwards, with cold Arctic air following it. Sunday is looking very mixed. In northern Britain wintry showers are likely and over the Scottish mountains there is the potential for significant amounts of snow. In Northern Ireland and the southern half of Britain showery outbreaks of rain become heavy and push southeastwards.
Early next week the wintry theme continues. Snow is most likley in the north, but it's not out of the question that parts of the south could see some.
