A good first attempt! The other day I tried taking macro shots using my new Nikon D40. Not as easy as it looks! Here are the results (hope you don't mind me slipping mine's one in here):

I'll join in the macro party - two rather different topics in these two shots!
A brave fly on my windowsill (he didn't climb in )

And fun with the small-change jar:

Rob K:Nice stuff Neil. I've still never managed to get a sharp macro of a bee. They always move too fast. This one was either tired or dieing

Now, THAT, people, is photography at it's best. Seriously, those two shots above are so good it actually made me break out in goosepimples. 10 out of 10 for composition, timing and clarity. The fly and the venus flytrap could represent dicing with death, being brave and yet stupid at the same time. Stunning, absolutely stunning. Can you think of any other web site that shows pictures of this quality? No, long may the Photo Forum live.

Very nice! Bev. See, this is what photography is all about, giving it a go and the result is speaking for themselves. Good work, Bev!
Iceageian, macro photography is the art of taking pictures at very VERY close range. (10 cm or less, usually aided by an additional magnifying lens attachment). Even the K800i's camera has a macro setting, try it and you'll be surprised (enable the macro setting on your phone, then gently depress the shutter button until it goes "blip" and the cross bars goes green with an unblurred image behind and you're ready to go as you press the shutter button all the way down).
