This has been confirmed by Sky but not yet by the Metoffice. They must be preparing their tweet lol
We are 0.6C off the new record.

Rather incredibly, the temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank has just shot up to 30.9°C as at 3pm this afternoon which has now set a new all time record for the highest temperature which I have ever recorded at any of my three local stations since I first joined TWO back in the summer of 2016.That might even also be a new all time record for that particular station and has come as a result of an increase in the temperature by a massive 4.8°C in just the last hour.Who knows where this might end up going next.

If it was cloud free today we would have hit 40c no question.

The temperature on my PWS at home has been fluctuating up and down as cloud has come and gone. In the last half hour it's been clear and gone up from 35.2C to 35.8C, just a shade below my new maximum of 35.9C which it reached at 2.28pm.
Cloud is coming up from the south though, so I suspect it won't go any higher today.
Now 33C at Manchester Airport - a smidgen off the all time record.
35C at Manchester University.
3 minutes until new data
Brace brace brace.
This could be it. Now or never.
Northolt 37.6c at 4 pm
People may be glad to know that WeatherUnderground are once again display to decimal places.

BTW - sorry to go off topic, but did anyone else notice the weather station historical data has gone from being able to show yearly, to just Monthly now?
Anyone know the story about that?
Reports beginning to appear that it has been called as the "second hottest day on record".
So I take it won't be reaching 40 c then? I'm quite happy with my own personal 100 F experience, even if it was just for a very brief moment. Now 33.1 c with high cloud starting to move in.
37.6C at Northolt so I don't think the record is necessarily dead.
And now 38.1C confirmed in Cambridge.

A great call from you yesterday Brian. You said it would be a miss by a fraction and it would appear you have called that spot on.
