As at 9pm tonight, a total of 14.2 mm of precipitation has fallen at Edinburgh Gogarbank since 9am this morning with most of that falling as sleet and snow, along with 11.8 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

For Edinburgh Gogarbank, this brings the total for this month to 71.4 mm, the total for this winter to 216.6 mm and the total for this year to 147.0 mm as at 9pm tonight.

This means that just 4 or more official rain days now need to occur at Edinburgh Gogarbank between now and the end of this month in order for this month to go down as being wetter than average there in terms of the number of official rain days.

This also means that just 3 or more official rain days now need to occur at Edinburgh Gogarbank between now and the end of this month in order for this winter to go down as being wetter than average there in terms of the number of official rain days.

For the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, this brings the total for this month to 62.8 mm, the total for this winter to 179.4 mm and the total for this year to 130.4 mm as at 9pm tonight.

This means that more rain has fallen at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh during this winter than the 1981-2010 winter average for that particular station. This in turn means that regardless of what happens between now and the end of this month, this winter will now go down as being wetter than average there in terms of the actual rainfall amounts.

In addition to that, this means that just 5 or more official rain days now need to occur at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh between now and the end of this month in order for this month to go down as being wetter than average there in terms of the number of official rain days.

Furthermore, this also means that just 5 or more official rain days now need to occur at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh between now and the end of this month in order for this winter to go down as being wetter than average there in terms of the number of official rain days.

As I write, we still haven't had a single month which has been drier than average at both of those stations since April 2019, but the wait for our first such drier than average month since then goes on.

This is also our fourth wetter than average season in a row and so, the wait for our first drier than average season since last winter (the winter of 2018/19) goes on.

Furthermore, this also brings to an end, the run of three successive drier than average winters which we had going into this one. As a result of that, this will therefore go down as our wettest winter at both of those stations since the winter of 2015/16, regardless of what happens between now and the end of this month.

A total of 20.4 mm of precipitation fell at Edinburgh Gogarbank during the 24 hour period up until 9am this morning with some of that falling as sleet and snow, along with 18.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh as this really wet and miserable month of February which we are continuing to experience in this part of the world goes on.

For Edinburgh Gogarbank, this brings the total for this month to 77.6 mm, the total for this winter to 222.8 mm and the total for this year to 153.2 mm as at 9am this morning.

For the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, this brings the total for this month to 69.2 mm, the total for this winter to 185.8 mm and the total for this year to 136.8 mm as at 9am this morning.

This is now clearly a part of the world which doesn't need any more rain for now.

As I have already mentioned in my opening post of this thread, February is normally our driest month of the winter on average according to the 1981-2010 averages, but that has not been the case this year and regardless of what happens between now and the end of this month, this month will now go down as our wettest month of this winter at both of those stations.

We are only in the 11th day of this month and so, I have only 10 days of rainfall observations for this part of the world as a result as we are only really about a third of the way through this month.

With the way that this is going, this month could well be on course to end up being our wettest February on record, especially since there appears to be no signs amongst the latest model output, of any significantly drier spell during the foreseeable future with this unsettled weather looking set to continue for another week or so at least.

My aercus weather station has died whilst performing a firmware update to allow me to move away from wunderground. I cant find it on the network, might need to look for another.

Consequently my precip tracking has reverted to how much ends up in a bucket..

Right now weve had about an inch of rain, but about 4inches over the past week or so.
