An example that many people in here are more familiar with.

Is it appropiate to say because the global temperature is only a degree or so higher than pre industrial levels that Global warming is nothing to worry about? After all 1 degree is barely even noticable!

Because this would be a far more valid statement as temperature isn't exponential growth, it's probably only geometric growth.

Obviously Iran is massively under reporting but also Thailand and Indonesia not testing much apparently.

I see one of their top officials has caught it and still attended the press conference yesterday, looking clearly unwell and feverish.

No doubt the clerics will all be at Friday prayers putting a religious spin on this (something around the nasty immoral West) and asking for divine intervention. And expecting it. To be fair I guess the same scenes will be played out amongst the religious right in the US if it reaches there.

The biggest concern is Iran and the fact that the religious sites remain open with streams of visitors. Even thought their contacts with the outside world are more limited it's still  the biggest worry IMO, if it spreads through the region into places like Iraq and Syria.

I suspect the number of cases is indeed quite a bit higher but as the virus is more often than not very mild many people will just wait for it to pass rather than get tested.
