Hopefully the new drug (SNG001) will enter patient trials this week in England.

They have high hopes it will help the elderly and those with underlying health conditions.

I now feel that even keeping schools open for support workers is now a grave error of judgement.

I really don't think we'll reach these levels, but what do I know! My ignorant guess is tens of thousands and even that could be an overestimation.

I'm surprised that there is queueing at supermarkets. Is this general or localised? After a day or two long panic about 10 days ago, there have been no issues with supermarkets here.

People moaning about having to spend prolonged periods of home should also get a grip. This will be the easiest quarantine in human history due to the Internet and all the modern cons available. The time of the year will also help.


Imagine if it was November now just 30 years ago, proper despair!

To me it says they just want to let the thing spread, albeit at a slightly slower rate.


They're still, it seems, desperate to get to the Easter holidays - which don't start down here until the 1st April.


Time will tell, but to me it's just furthering the spread of the virus.

I enjoyed a lovely long walk yesterday - saw a few others out but all observed social distancing as best they could and still give a nod of hello or a smile. I hope to get out today as well as it is sunnier here.


On the school note - our primary will typically have 55-65 kids in each day next week - thought that doesn't yet take into account parents who have not replied back to urgent letters/emails. Our head has half staff in Mon-Wed lunch (team 1) and the other half Wed lunch to Friday (team 2). Therefore each team will have an alternating 'long weekend'. We'll be running a curriculum full of art, craft, sports, outdoor activities, drama etc.

The headless chicken panic needs to stop.

The death rate in Italy is scary but the average age of those who have died is over 78.
We should be isolating the elderly, as planned - but among everyone else 50% or more are going to get it if they haven't already got it.
For most the symptoms will be no worse than mild flu.

Even the more extreme lockdown in Italy has barely made a difference so the economy is being crashed for no good reason.
It was too late for them and it's too late for us.
Painful decisions have to be taken, but trying to stop the tsunami won't work - we need to make sure things continue to function or it could get far worse than can be imagined.
