Advice please... we have two cars and one of them is due an MOT by 29 March.  The new government announcement on MOTs only applies to those due from 30 March.  The local garages are now closed.  As I will likely not be driving this car for some time now, am I right thinking that I could SORN it until the garages are open again and then book an MOT at that point?

I assume I'd also have to advise my insurance company?

To put it bluntly there are some XXX rated horror stories from the UK and other countries. Often young people with no diagnosed underlying medical conditions. If there are still people not taking this seriously they are idiots at best and criminals at worst.

Mass self testing for antibodies will be available in the UK by Monday. Amazon will distribute the kits on behalf of the government. Like blood glucose testing although results will take longer - 10 to 15 mins as opposed to a few seconds. This is the game changer.

Another story: a 95 year old woman in Italy was diagnosed with Covid-19 after developing persistent dry coughing and very high temperature. Her family thought 'that's it' and she was not even admitted to hospital. She has now made a full recovery at home.

CMO has just said we've done 97k tests. We should then see +7k on todays update when it's out.

Re these antibody tests - surely 100,000 or so of them should be used to conduct a random uk wide sample to see the overall prevalence? Similar to an exit poll, which normally have high accuracy these days. Could consult a pollster for best way to run it

Doesn't sound like the testing kits will be out next week to get fromĀ Amazon/Boots as reported earlier. They still need to tested to ensure they're reliable and accurate.

More on Italy:

5210 new cases and 683 new deaths in Italy. Protezione Civile chief Borrelli, the person usually holding the daily press conference, is at home with a fever, while the former chief Bertolaso is now hospitalized in Milan after having tested positive to the virus.
