Bent should get you 15-20 goals a season. His record over the last 5 years is good (81 goals vs. 82 each for Rooney & Drogba). His assists record is poor though. Personally, I would have been happy seeing him go for £30m, given it would mean even more money coming to Spurs.

With Bent now gone to Villa, I don't see an obvious replacement during this transfer window, it will be more likely to take place in the summer. Welbeck will return to Man U at the end of the season and is out injured anyway, so maybe a loan or short term signing will do for now. Names being put forward include Philips or Owen, so we will have to wait and see.

I am disappointed to see Bent go, but the way he has been playing recently suggested that all was not right, so maybe long term it was the right decision for him to seek pastures new. I am hoping that his demise will not have a detrimental affect on our position come the end of the season.

Very true. But Citeh's policy now seems to be to 'park' players on their books, just so the opposition can't get them. Then, when it's time to sell-on, sell to a foreign club.  We can be rest assured of one thing - should Balotelli and Tevez eventually go (highly likely) they won't be offloaded to any clubs in the EPL.

I have a feeling City feel the need to buy up whatever they can get at the moment before these new spending rules come into place because as a small club they don't make a profit like other bigger clubs with history etc. Although whenever I hear about the new spending rules my thinking is that clubs will simply find a loophole to get round it.

I agree with Saint on this one, i am not so sure of Suarez especially at the 20 million pound plus mark. He be worth a punt at half that evaluation given what he has done in a relatively poor dutch league and some good WC performances, but a bit risky at the 20 million pound plus mark. For me there has been one or 2 players that have left anfield that should have been kept namely Alonso and the little Israeli guy now at chelski (injured..?)Not sure who Liverpool could sign to play alongside Torres from players that are available / or affordable..?
