Absolute arseholes.

I am sick to death of the right wing media in this country. Just f*ck off.

Strong words Joe

I agree entirely. There is a clear, biased and unfair agenda to these rags.

Beat me too it! That really is a pathetic contribution which suggests that the author missed out on some much-needed education and lacks much awareness of how the world works. £127,500 per annum for school fees???? How truly imbecilic.

School Fee (payable on the first day of term by direct debit)

Current school fee

£14,167 per half [i.e. term; there are three terms in a year]. Bursaries are awarded by the Bursaries Committee as soon as a boy has been offered a conditional place at the school, which is approximately 18 months prior to his joining the school. All bursaries are means-tested.

King’s Scholars

The maximum fee for King’s Scholars is 90% of the current school fee (recipients can also apply for a bursary for the remainder of the fee on a means-tested basis).

Music Scholars

The maximum fee for Music Scholars is 90% of the current school fee (recipients can also apply for a bursary for the remainder of the fee on a means-tested basis).

Miscellaneous

Absentee Fee

£14,167 per half

Withdrawal without due notice fee

£14,167 per half

Extras

Music

£320 per half for lessons totalling 30 minutes per week.

£480 per half for lessons totalling 45 minutes per week.

£640 per half for lessons totalling 60 minutes per week.

Other extras

School extras are billed in arrears and the level of charges varies depending on the activities a boy does while at Eton. Extras can vary greatly but are usually between £500-£1,000 per half. A full list of possible additional charges is sent to parents at the start of the academic year.

So with extras maybe £15,000 per half  team. So just the £90,000 per year then. So in my book that is imbecilic!

My own reading of the situation is that the unions are not against  schools re-opening, just that it needs to be done safely for teachers and children.  The undue haste   with which the Govt. is trying to "steamroller" this though is a concern.  Especially as the BMA has now come out and backed the teachers unions.

The vast majority of teachers (and by extension, union members), go into teaching because they love children, and  love seeing children develop, and learn.

I despair.

Probably a bit early for schools to return in any numbers for a while yet. Our 10 year old Grandaughter is greatly enjoying lockdown  school with only 3 or 4 other classmates

We're now quarantining our new boat migrants for 14 days... goodness knows why it's taken so long, but at least it's being done now. We had 227 arrive over bank holiday Friday and last Saturday and I guess that was the final straw.

Incidentally, we had 6 boats and 90 migrants turn up yesterday.
