Blackpool have been fined £25,000 by the Premier League for fielding a weakened team in a league game against Aston Villa on 10th November 2010. I wonder if Holloway will carry out his threat and quit over this ridiculous decision by the Premier League.

What's the point in naming a 25 man squad if you get fined for using it. I don't see the Man Utd's and Arsenal's of this world getting fined when they field weakened sides, so why Blackpool.

Liverpool agree a staggering £23M pound deal for Ajax and Uruguay star Suarez.  Time will tell if Suarez is worth that kind of money, the Dutch league is far from the best and i do question the amount when it would seem other top teams from Italy and Spain have show little interest in Suarez. Personally i feel the price is way over the top !!

Now for the sale of Torres?

In the context of other prices being bandied about Suarez is worth it IMO. Good signing for Liverpool. I still don't understand why Harry is unsure about him - and presumably didn't make a bid.

Meanwhile, we're supposedly close to getting Hulk. Again, a good signing if true.

Given our 4 strikers have scored a combined 6 goals between them this season, it can't come a moment too soon. It's a frightening thought (for everyone else) how much higher up the table we would have been had we a world class striker.

And Torres, seemingly has asked for a transfer in all but name.

Assuming the Guardian piece is correct (and, given the tone, sounds like speculation more than anything - albeit logical speculation), Liverpool should be contacting other clubs in Europe because selling Torres to Chavski would be heresy and unforgiveable to the fans. I cannot think of one top player for Liverpool who's forced through a move away to another English club in my lifetime. Liverpool just don't do that. They sell players surplus to requirements, or they sell want-away top players overseas. Just a pity that, given Torres' Athletico links, Real Madrid isn't a realistic option, cos they're desperate for a striker.

Chelsea apparently are readying a bid of £40m + Sturridge for Torres.

'Arry meanwhile has indicated he won't be buying any strikers in this window. So that means we are utterly finked. They are apoplectic with rage on the Spurs board.

Newcastle have turned down Liverpool's £35m bid

I hope they're not stupid enough to up their bid any further, but fear they would be. Mike Cashley must be priapic with excitement right now.

I know transfer values are arbitrary and depend on a whole load of things, but he'd be a player I'd put in the £15-20m bracket. Perhaps pay £25m given the extra dosh received from the Torres deal, possibly even go to £30m if absolutely desperate (which we shouldn't be - the 2010/11 season can be written off right now). But absolutely no way any more.

EDIT - Sorry, should have said, the 2010/11 season could be written off around the end of August 2010.
