Also the updated 06z is also bang on the mean track of the overnights.

High ground to the W & NW of london look good however it is T72 so some variation of track to be expected...

Pressure systems all in the right places, but just not alot of cold air about.

This could change. Synoptically one of the best December charts ive seen in years.  Big swathes of High pressure to our north...

All this needs is maybe a LP to the east of the Med.  Something to stem that warm feed and draw in proper easterly flow

Not too much sign of that happening though, still chances of some early snowfall for some in the SE this Friday. Looks like a messy picture with rain and snow both very much in the mix but I am optimistic that some will hit the sweet spot.

I remember last year the thought was there is so much cold air to the NOrth it has to flood south at some point! This year hopefully it will happen

Yes that WAAAAAA going up the west of Greenland is nice to see, sets up a proper Greenland block and lets some of that cold air fly south for the winter.... albeit still not all that cold just yet

GFS is slowly correcting its bias for adding a few degrees to 850s 😄
Some very tasty Synoptics that promise so much.

Not sure which run but the 12z is still available and looks reasonably consistent with this morning's update. Link is:

Well it looks like we had solid agreement across the big 3 that the Atlantic shut down starts at T96 with WAA beefing heights up around Iceland

That for me is what kicks it all off, stopping the conveyor belt and really sets the stage for something to happen.
