Heavy settling snow now in North Northumberland low level

Proper heavy snow now, starting to settle on some surfaces.  Pity it won't be here for long, but certainly a surprise event.

Its been a very long time since I visited TWO and looks like a few things have changed although some of my old friends are still around which is good to see. Back on topic- really heavy rain which has turned to snow, temp dropped by 5c in 15 minutes. Starting to settle.

Good to see this in the North. Not had that scenario really for very many years but used to be pretty common in my youth. I remember the glee of rain turning to heavy snow before my hopes were dashed as it became milder and turned to drizzle after depositing a few inches in no time at all. No models to worry about then, just a pleasant surprise.

History may well tell a story about said snowfall, cms, phah! In someones day they talked about inches. a fall of snow is a fall

I've been quite busy recently, but I have now noticed that we now have quite a decent covering of snow even here in the north of Edinburgh just now courtesy of Storm Christoph and it is still snowing here as I write with a temperature of around 0°C.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Yes, the YouTuber in question is also someone who I have subscribed to despite the fact that he is on the opposite side of the football divide here in Edinburgh from me (I have always been a proud Hibs fan, whereas this guy is a well known Hearts fan who was brought up in the Stenhouse area of Edinburgh, not far from there Saughton Prison is these days and even though his videos are generally now weather related (I do have other interests in life apart from the weather after all).

On the subject of YouTube, I see that the official TWO YouTube channel has just reached over 1k subs. I know that Brian is very happy with that and I'm sure that the current weather pattern has had a lot to do with that, as well as the increase in views and subs which Gavin P. has eeen getting for his main weather channel as well.

Yes great Youtuber - I hadn't subscribed to his channel but it came up on recommended videos and realised he was doing a live stream. Nice stuff. Edinburgh castle looks amazing in the snow - hopefully my girlfriend and I can come and visit sometime when lockdown ends even better with snow - esp for photos - maybe next winter now given we are all in lockdown. I saw people having snowball fights in his video - but police took a blind eye - i mean I doubt there could be much covid -19 around on top of the Edinburgh castle. Enjoy the snow because to the north up eastern Scotland is rain with temps of 2-3c.

If you want to know more about Edinburgh and Scotland in general, that is a good channel to go to as that is what his channel is all about, as well as others such as The Broonfords. He has travelled to a lot of places and his girlfriend actually comes from Brazil where he first met here. Like everyone else though, he hasn't been able to go anywhere just recently due to COVID-19 although I'm pretty sure that this sort of weather might actually be quite a new experience for his girlfriend who wouldn't exactly have seen this sort of weather where in Brazil where she originally came from.

Sounds like he says he's never seen this much snow in his life 🤣  Aye a scotsman in his 20's or older has never seen an inch or 2 of snow. Whatever.

A remarkable 24 hrs, 11C at 2pm with heavy rain, 0.3C at 9pm with heavy snow. Could end up being the weather event of the year, certainly one for te memory banks. Something that you see the States.

What an amazing winter! 10cm of snow in Edinburgh after another 12hrs of the stuff. Bigger flakes now with the temperature at 0.5 C.

Thats 18 mornings with snowcover since 1 December and 19 days with snow falling. The most since Nov/Dec 2010

He obviously doesn't remember the Beast or 2010. We had 20cm in 2010 and 12cm in the Beast

Heavy (mostly) snow shower here now, most of our very slushy covering has gone too from last night apart from a bit on cars. A horrible morning out there though.
