Today we had minus 5 deg C or thereabouts and I tried playing with bubbles in the frost, but they burst!  Then we went a walk up the hill behind the house.  There was blue sky and sparkling snow, but unfortunately all the snow on the branches of the trees came off with wind and the thaw earlier in the week.  Here's today's pics....

Haven't seen snow like that since the blizzard of '78.

A smattering of snow I suppose you could call it in parts of Dorset in past few hours but not really proper snow and only rain here though for some people it's probably an event of a lifetime. Waiting for a deep cold easterly and powder snow as that's really the only way to get decent snow here. Hens teeth come to mind though.

Beautiful images esp the red squirrel.

To me it's all rather sad to see us being excited by the kind of snowfall depths we used to see here on Dartmoor at least once a year. I can remember many snowfalls where it was so deep walking was difficult.

Since 2013 or so though, nothing, no snow worth mentioning here ...

Thank you for the nice comments - glad to share.

Unfortunately it's been dull since the weekend, so I did some housework, but today, dull or not, I had to get out the bike….

Nice pics again, Dizzy Daff. However, it really underlines what I say about your neck of the woods being almost like a different planet. It hasn't fallen below 7 C here since some time on Monday while you're still buried in snow!

Interesting inscription on the bridge - built in very different times not long after Culloden.

The weekend walks –

As there was an Easterly wind, the snow had petered out before it reached us.  (We need a North wind.)  Further into the Cairngorm National Park – just 7 or 8 miles away, snow had been drifting, so there were a few minor roads blocked – nothing around the town though, so no exciting snowy pics, I'm afraid.

Go to https://www.theweatheroutlook.com/photo-uploader.aspx and upload your photo.

Icicles on the summer house

Thanks, Darren.  That worked.  Nice...

... but it also means that it is published on the Sky Eye Gallery as well.  I couldn't possibly publish all 10 pictures that way (every day). I would be hogging the limelight on the Gallery and folk would be scunnered of my pictures - if they aren't already!

Good for a single photo.

Marvellous icicles! We went for a walk in what passes for snow in Chichester - at the end of the shower you could the individual snowflakes on your coat - on the fingers of your hands!

Lovely pictures again.

To give an idea of how some places have missed out on the snow have a look at these snowy offerings from the South.

The total for here in South Dorset was far far less than any of those snowfalls even for the snow man at Barton on Sea.
