Slightly surreal large drifts on fields already swept almost bare - sun today soon greened them completely.

Beautiful day - reached 7 deg C, so snow thawing fast, but ice taking a bit longer to shift....

I noticed that Balmoral was wettest in Britain yesterday at 32mm. That must have thawed a lot of snow on low ground but did it add to the snow total on the hills?

The Loch Morlich webcam - Loch Morlich Watersports — Webcam is showing the foothills of the Cairngorms with less snow.  

Another windy day and 6C, so here there's a definite thaw on our local hills.

There's still a bit of snow on the hills -

And in the garden, the Snowdrops are in bloom...

Not Snowdrops, but the Leucojum or Summer Snowflakes are also out.

The Daffies could be a wee while yet!

Wow! What a coincidence. A similar event happened near Banff on the North East coast of Scotland.

Daffie's spring flowers, frog spawn and the last of the snow on the hills....

No Daffies yet!  They are still about 2 inches in height.

The last bit of snow higher up (which could be seen from the house) disappeared here yesterday, there are probably still a few patches in shade along the Cleveland Hills.
Drifts can survive into May along there fairly regularly
