Car crash winter 2021/22 continues.

Judging by the output today there is no end in sight. DJF will be snowless for many parts of the south.

Max of 9.0c yesterday and 9.1c today in our latest brief 850Hpa polar maritime ensemble dip.

Even 'colder' upper air incursions are resulting in average to slightly above average surface temperatures these days.

Insult added to injury. After being attacked by a bee earlier this week today a blue bottle decided it had woken up too early and dropped into my full mug of coffee. 

Maybe it needed a caffeine buzz.

There some rain today and it rained 4 times in a week and if you see at the back the desert turning a bit green.  Yes I agreed can be boring but I would take it from here.  I used to see nice cloudscapes here before but now all is over cast often and clear skies but never see just sunny spells to period days.  Namibia now is on the rainy season and rain reach the waterhole if the winds turn SE as their trade winds are NW to WNW direction.  Watching animals like Oxyr having a fight are more interesting then UK weather.  

Do you think you need to check if your house infected?  I had a swarm of flies all over in Feb 2019 in my old house at Lower Stoke, Kent.  Not sure how it happened and where the eggs was laid in somewhere to keep them warm and alive over winter months.

Now, Brian. You know I am going to ask "What species"? There are 250 UK spp.

My money will, of course, be on the honeybee as they will fly at over 10degC. That means you have a local colony or two. Could you have some in your house somewhere? In a redundant chimney or cavity wall perhaps? Or was a window open for one to come in?

I looked around and if any dead small animal somewhere but they had 2 dogs and cat living in that house before I moved in so likely they not clean their pets or fowling in the house I think.  I moved in Sept 2018 then flies came out in Feb 2019 despite house was clean.

850s no longer accurate or useful for ground temps.  All I see is now temperatures on the surface had been very extreme temperate so regardless what the uppers say you still get same maxes and in summer higher uppers still give us high teens temps.

That explains why and not sure if they do that every February as I left the house last Jan 2021.  It surrounded by farm lands and few trees.

A brief respite with one frosty morning yesterday which saw the lowest temperature of the winter so far. A bone-chilling -2.8C 

To put that lame reading into context last years very mild March managed -3.5C 

By the time I was able to get out at lunchtime it was back to the usual windy garbage and now it's the weekend the weather has stepped up to another level of awful yet again 

Not only is it windy but also overcast with totally useless and pathetic drizzly rain. Yet another weekend I won't get out on my bike. Just one weekend the whole wretched winter when I have been able to which is just desperately poor.

Perhaps if it dries up I could have another go at the obstacle course that this winter's unspeakably vile weather has created in the local woods.
