Too nice a day to stay in and fret about world politics, so to Golden Cap, the highest point on the south coast at 191m., for a walk round the area. Since this is a weather forum, perhaps I should record 0/8 cloud and a stiff southerly breeze.

For those who don't know the area, the hill has a striking cap of golden sand but it's difficult to see this from the landward side https://www.dorsets.co.uk/photos/golden-cap.htm . Anyway, here are my views of Golden Cap itself and from the walk.

I know it quite well. It was a beautiful day yesterday too.

You can see for miles and miles.

A classic view for me- not just because of family Dorset history, but becuse of my fossil hunting interests aged 8 to 56. The Cap was always visible from our best hunting grounds under Stonebarrow and Black Venn.

Some lovely pics on a lovely day Dew.

I also remember crossing it in July 1991 during a Chetnole to Charmouth walk (with an overnight stop nt far from Powerstock). My younger brother was forced to carry his girlfriend's rucksack as well as his and the climb was so steep in places I thought he would arrest (he was only 24 at the time) his face was so red.
