I've never seen him quite so confident but says signs are ominous for a poor late July and rest of summer.
Surely we're not going to get another bad August?

There are quite a few that fit that description - including Joe Bast*rdi mentioned upthread. I think it’s sometimes more about professional parochialism. There’s a strand in old school meteorology that resents the dominance of climatologists and the idea the trend is more important than the oscillations. In a way the weather is always fighting against the climate for supremacy. If you specialise in the weather perhaps you want it to win.
