BBC forecast for Leeds now showing 38C on Tuesday… it was only showing 35C a couple of days ago

Already taken a screenshot of the forecast as who knows when we’ll see anything like it again

Monday consistently looks like the peak temp day here in the west of England. Tuesday further east

45.4 was the high in Spain yesterday, slightly lower than Wednesday. Today might still exceed that before the heat gets squeezed north towards us.

I assumed, probably naively - that they were 100% computer generated.

As much as it is an interesting time, it has been so nice to have a few fresh days here. Living in a new build, it takes a while to get the temperature down and last night was finally comfortable and my 2 year old didn't wake up ready for the day at 3.30am. I'm interested to see how high we actually get and whether we can push past 35C here and 40C nationally but I am glad there's a 20C forecast on Wednesday!

Met Office auto forecast now shows "just" 30c here on Monday and Tuesday.

At least it will be mild!

One thing I have noticed from the auto forecasts is that the "feels like" temperature only peaks at around 34C even in London. So the real feel will actually be lower than the thermometer shows, not like the hot and humid conditions we sometimes get.

The highest temperature recorded in Spain so far today on the website is still 37.2C which was the reading at one town in Badajoz province at 12.40am!

Red warnings issued for parts of the south 00:00 Monday to 23:59 Tuesday

"Exceptional, perhaps record-breaking, temperatures are likely on Monday, then again on Tuesday. Nights are also likely to be exceptionally warm for the UK, especially in urban areas. This is likely to lead to widespread impacts on people and infrastructure. Temperatures are expected to drop away from Wednesday onwards."

Was only a matter of time. A huge swathe of England too.

People don't quite realise how hot 40c will be.

It's going to be the most exceptional spell of weather in many many years, if not in a lifetime.

The people totally dismissing any chance of a red warning look very stupid now.

As I expected it’s now issued.

Does a red warning mean things like schools close? Our city is split between Amber and Red so if that's the case not sure how that works.

I’m about 10miles south of the red zone so ridiculously nothing will be triggered here for schools etc, where as 20mins up the road will be in emergency mode!
