Annoying how the forecasters aren’t really even referencing these showers!

33.5C at midday at Gogerddan (near Aberystwyth on the West coast of Wales) is a pretty ridiculous reading for that area

No, they are quite local.  I wonder what's causing them ?? I thought a sea breeze front a while back , but I'm not convinced

After some earlier light cloud sky is clear blue now here in Northolt and feels very warm at 34C with a light breeze. I think temps could rise for most of the afternoon under these conditions but will slow. I think we'll touch 38 but not quite sure we'll get a record today.

35.5C was the highest at 1pm back then but I didn't say where.

It's also worth noting that there can be huge spikes between the hourly readings, eg the Met tweeting that 35.9C had been reached at Heathrow in 2019 even when the last hourly reading was 34.3C.

I think if we can see a 36C (even rounded) by 1pm then the record is on today. Cambridge airport was 35C rounded on the 12:20 METAR.

There's been a change of airmass here - even though the wind's still mostly from the SW, the dewpoint has risen sharply and the temperature has fallen a bit. No complaints from me about the latter!

(I note the other nearby stations are now lower than mine - suggests a bit of a sea-breeze effect).
