32.5C here. I don't envy our (black) rabbit - I've soaked a towel in water and wrapped it over a frozen water bottle for her to lie on in the shade. She used to have a burrow but we had to move the run to make way for building work, and she hasn't built another one yet!

Edit: 32.7C since I wrote that, the rise has picked up again!

This years are from weatherobs.com.

2019s are from reading through the historic thread on TWO, I posted them on the hour when I could.

35.5C was the highest at 1pm back then but I didn't say where.

It's also worth noting that there can be huge spikes between the hourly readings, eg the Met tweeting that 35.9C had been reached at Heathrow in 2019 even when the last hourly reading was 34.3C.

I think if we can see a 36C (even rounded) by 1pm then the record is on today. Cambridge airport was 35C rounded on the 12:20 METAR.

Doncaster Airport was reporting 32C at 12.20 with a 1C dewpoint for a humidity of 13.8%. Is this a UK record?

There's been a change of airmass here - even though the wind's still mostly from the SW, the dewpoint has risen sharply and the temperature has fallen a bit. No complaints from me about the latter!

(I note the other nearby stations are now lower than mine - suggests a bit of a sea-breeze effect).

EDIT:

11:45 - 32.9 / 14.4

12:45 - 32.2 / 16.9

Certainly 40C (as forecast by GFS tomorrow) would have been completely out of the question.

Scary to think that the temperatures we've seen today have already beaten anything recorded in the 80s.

From Blackbushe airport station. Not sure how accurate that is, but feels fairly dry! Clouding over a bit again though.

LHR rounded 35

Cambridge rounded still 35.
