Paul Hudson of BBC Look North tweeting that the West Yorkshire record has been beaten by 1.6C https://twitter.com/Hudsonweather/status/1549064087296159744
So it looks like probably no UK record today, based on those 5pm reports?Surprised by that - probably a record CET day though!

Maxed at 25.9C here which is in no way noteworthy but was 4C above the forecast despite a period of unforecast overcast spoiling things during the morning.
If it's the same tomorrow then the record will be smashed but at least it's looking likely the ridiculously long period of 16 years without a 28C reading will come to an end.
Santon down to 37.5C
Looks like the record might have survived.
Still creeping up here - currently 32.3c

Are we still on for a hotter day tomorrow?
My ammeteur cambridge proxy is down to 36.6C from a high of 38.8C earlier

Genuinely think the record might have survived. Not much left now in the tank.
Derrylin 30.9C very close to the N Ireland record of 31.3C set almost exactly a year ago
Will definitely go tommorow.
But it will be somewhere in Yorkshire or lincolnshire.
Cambridge may have lost its day in the sun
Scrub that, the link was supposed to be Liverpool JLA but brought up Hawarden
Get in!! Looking forward to it!!
It surely has to go tomorrow, but I’d have liked to get that out of the way today. Just worried about encroaching cloud of faster than forecast breakdown. That being said, models still resolute on 40C and we hopefully can get the lowest min ever recorded as well.
Some mid level cloud now moving into the Cambridge area.
Surely a better change of record going tomorrow following such a sultry night tonight?
Well at least today people weren't collapsing in the streets as their blood boiled away.

Today looked like a 38-38.5C day and tomorrow 40.5 - 41C (both probably in Cambridge).
It's almost certain that the UK will record its first >40C day tomorrow.
More of a gusty wind tomorrow too, a proper extreme day.
LJLA has inched up to 36c, though

No record then? I am a bit surprised if not given GFS was showing 40c a couple of days ago?
