Many of the other papers do have the heat as the headline though.

33.9c here at 10:45am
Now up to 28°C and I am feeling it getting hotter, so it's amazing that it actually felt quite cool in comparison at 24°C as that wouldn't normally be the case here.
There was a cloudier period a short while ago and even the odd spot of rain, but the Sun is now back out with a vengeance.
This really is phenomenal. 35°C in rural Northern England with a dry, dusty wind blowing. Didn't think I'd experience this in the UK for a while. It's scorching, and can you imagine if this was humid heat?

The temperature here in Hawick has now jumped up to 32°C and it is now absolutely sweltering here.
Furthermore, the all time Scottish record will be broken if the temperature goes any higher, here and if that is right.
Today is Edinburgh's turn to be that bit cooler and with tomorrow being forecast to be much cooler in general, that is probably now the final nail in the coffin as regards to Edinburgh's chances of experiencing its own hottest day on record in this heatwave.
The latest temperatures up there are around 26°C at Edinburgh Airport, 25°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and just 22°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
Would we get these temps though if the air was from a humid source?

Definite heat bump ahead of front around 1700 Eastern Districts Prefect timing 25 uppers https://www.meteociel.fr/modeles/gfs/850-hpa/3h.htm

Note it has been consistently showing colder uppers than the GFS, but the distribution is what matters.
Had lunch outside and went for a 30-min walk, absolutely amazing feeling!
T=39.3C, Td = 7.7C and a gusty southerly wind straight from the oven.
Now 33°C here in Hawick which could be enough on its own to beat the all time Scottish record if that was to officially confirmed.
Temps have slipped back over past half hour and wind has started gusting.
sun still shining
Max temp 35.5c
Now 34°C here in Hawick which definitely would beat the Scottish record, and it would a real shame if this was scuppered by no other factor, other than the sheer lack of official stations in this part of the world.
Meannwhile here a mile from the SE coast its an incredible 36.2c and still edging up slowly. The furnace is still firing.
Over the hill and down you go!...expected change in wind direction to the W and NW has arrived in E Lancs and temps have fallen nearly 3C in 10mins. A steady decline in temps will now take place through to Wed morning. Keep an eye out for a gusty spell of weather and temp change! pic.twitter.com/ynU7GFQ7OL— Matt Hugo (@MattHugo81) July 19, 2022
