Dropped below 30C now. What kind of heatwave is this? 🙂

I just plunged into our deep paddling pool in full t-shirt and shorts - I’d recommend it, by far the best way to cool off. And I’m now actually shivering.

Local PWSs down to about 31C now. 21C at vineyard.

I’ve just spent the evening watching Sky news. Wall to wall coverage. Tell me again, what has the government done today (that notoriously woke, lefty Tory government we are currently enjoying) to infringe your civil liberties in any way whatsoever?

We don’t even have a hosepipe ban or a ban on outdoor smoking in the countryside. Or even a ban on barbecues or bonfires. Vast swathes of France are on alerte canicule currently meaning a large number of ordinary activities are restricted. In the libertarian paradise of the UK, nada.

Still 32.2°C here. Incredible at 20:00.

It's possible it might still be above 30°C at 21:00, which would be beyond unheard of.

Cooling down quicker than I expected in St Albans this evening. Now 27.4C on my garden thermometer. No overnight records likely in these parts. I'm guessing humidity is still low and is allowing temperatures to fall away quickly.

If you haven’t got a plunge pool, have a cold shower directly before bed, until you feel really cold and don’t dry yourself.

Utterly delicious 23 degrees now, we're in a slight valley so lose the sun 20 minutes before proper set time.

Still lots of stations above 30C at 9pm with 32.7C at Sutton Bonington the highest.

Who would ever have thought it could be 91F at 9pm in the East Midlands?

Interesting to see that Aboyne recorded the highest max in Scotland today at 31.3°C.

Apart from being a record for Aboyne what also makes it interesting is that it is nowhere near the amber heat warning area in Scotland.

Sister came for a dip as well!

Anyone know where I can find official station records? I think there's a chance Langdon Bay, Dover record will fall tomorrow, from memory I think it's 35.7c from 2019. As I remember a late surge in front of a storm that rolled in. Remarkable as it is about a stone's throw from the sea and on top of Dover cliffs and very exposed.
