First things first, can we beat the 23.9C set in Brighton?

UK max yesterday was 38.1C. Eyes down for the record, at least we should have a better base temperature tomorrow AM.

Almost midnight and the temperature has risen from 24.5c to 25.0c here in Okehampton but at least breeze has picked up.

Really not looking forward to sleep tonight in this heat! 🥵

temperature been dropping quite quickly here, now at 23 after a high of 37 today. Had hoped we might get a record high minimum but we've already missed out on that and going to be a lower starting temp for tomorrows chase than i was expecting.

But breeze picking up!

Halfway through the night and still 26.7°C here. I've never known one as warm as this.

The 22⁹C at 1:20am in Aberdeen is pretty impressive for the location.

Lowest so far tonight has been 24.4°C, back up to 25°C exactly now. It would be a record-breaker if I was an official station...

Has anyone heard from Retron? I was hoping for an air con report from the Leysdown Travelodge!

Tonight's when I'm going to the Holiday Inn, but it's in Sittingbourne, not Leysdown! (There are no chain hotels on Sheppey, oddly.)

17.8C here now.

Looking at weatherObs it looks like we may break the minimum temperature record. Even so the models do have a tough time with minimum temperatures in warm weather as nowhere near the 25C in parts of the London that was forecast.

But, today, we are starting from a higher base. 22C here. 30C by 9am is a real possibility.

As for last night sleeping. Horrific.

Slept like a log and no sweat at 27C indoors while 22C as the minimum so no record as my record stay 22C from before so never see 23C.  I think now is very dry air finally arrived 3 days late since Sat beautiful hot sunny day.

To get 40C we need at least 32C at 9am as I know the set up in Nicosia to get 40 need to be 32 if 31 then 39 or 30 for 38.  If 33 then 41 or 34 get 42 so if forecast 42 today then need  to be 34at 9am.  No clouds here but can see clouds to the far east?

The tmperature is already on the rise here (25.9°C) and the sun's only been up for an hour.

Today's high will depend on what time the cold front arrives. The Met Office seem to be suggesting 36°C, with the cold front arriving at about 14:00. If its layer, I can see 38°C or so for my area, earlier and it will likely fail to beat yesterday's high (34.8°C).

Looks like numerous places will beat the old minimum record. Kenley and Emley Moor not been below 25C.

For a truly ridiculous temp profile last 24 hours, check out Great Dun Fell in the Pennines, at 750m altitude. First crept above 20C yesterday evening and basically on the rise all night. 26C at 6am!

Interesting situation around the Pennines. 23-27 C minimum last night??
Leeds Bradford Airport (@ 200m) showing a minimum of 27 C on 'weatheronline' with nearby Bingley (also @ 200m) showing 23 C.
Unless the readings are faulty, Keswick in the Lakes is already at 25 C at 5.30 am 😲

We decided to sleep in the garden but got too cold at about 3am so returned inside. The overnight low on my VP2 was 19.4C, but I expect it was at last a couple of degrees lower around Berkhamsted.

It is Emley Moor which may hold the record though, can't see lower than 26.6c . It is at 270m asl so that extra altitude has helped plus being a bit further South in a zone that heated up quickly yesterday and retained heat.

Edit Emley maybe 26.2c, Kenley 25.8c but in a twist Emley was only 24.7,c at 9am yesterday morning whereas Kenley was above 26c so does that mean Kenley takes the record?

Last night when I went to bed Arome was showing maxes of 41C. This morning 38C.

Looks like it’s not happening this year after all.
