Not much more in the way of rainfall is forecast for here in the last couple of days of this month, so this is likely to be a substantially drier than average month here in terms of the actual rainfall amounts and so normal service has been resumed for here in terms of rainfall (or rather, the lack of it) after that thoroughly wet and miserable spring.

Since there isn't enough time left in this month for it to be possible for this month to wetter than average in terns of the number of rain days, this month will now be drier than average in terms of the number of rain days regardless of what happens between now and the end of this month

54mm in total here for June.  Just under our average of 59mm.     Almost all the rain came in the first half, with just 1mm falling in the second half of the month.

The crap just goes on and on with the run without a dry month extending to an unbelievable 16 months. 46.2mm which is near average the only reason it shows as dry on the Met Office map is due to the surreal number of spectacularly vile Junes in the past 30 years lifting the average rainfall to ludicrous levels never before seen in June.
Historical averages to put the 21st Century hell into perspective:
1856-75: 50mm at Grammar School
1871-1947: 47mm at Old Aberdeen
1904-24: 41mm at Cranford House
1931-89: 51mm at Mannofield Reservoir
1946-96: 56mm at Dyce
1997-2020: 71mm at Dyce
Absolutely nothing like this concentration of wet Junes going back to the mid-19th Century. The lastest averages now show June with more rainfall than January which is staggering given that January used to be one of the wettest months of the year. Now that month is just relentless westerlies and south westerlies meaning it has dried up considerably in contrast to the unprecedented cyclonic nature of June.

Ended up with just 17mm, and bugger all in the last two weeks of the month (well, 0.5mm, but at this time of year it barely hits the ground before it evaporates). It was enough for the grass to stop growing, but sadly the brambles seem to like it very much!
