For once, a decent night's sleep - slept like a log for 9 hours, although I still feel a bit tired! This pleasant interlude won't last long, but I'll take full advantage of it while it's here.

It's mostly cloudy with a gentle NW'ly breeze (both unusual for a summer's morning here), 15.4, dew 11.4, and the low so far is also 15.4. The high yesterday was 26.3.

Very dark here with lights having to go on. 18c temp and dew point but feels tempered somewhat by the pouring rain.

Send some of that rain this way, chaps - the grass is going yellow here as there's only been 4mm in the last 3 weeks!

We're back to the usual summer fayre here. No wind, clear blue skies, the promise of a warm day to come.

It's currently 12.4, dew 11.3, the low being 12.3. Yesterday's high was 23.3.

Back to the usual summer dross here... sunny, warm, very humid once again. That lower dewpoint interlude was lovely, and it's just a shame it couldn't last longer than 36 hours.

A crazy day here in Hawick.

Down here, we have frequent spells of showery rain often with the Sun shining whilst it's raining and that has produced some really nice rainbows.

It's not as warm here as it is in Edinburgh but it's still a rather humid 21°C here with a gusty wind at times.

However, a temperature of 25°C has been recorded at Edinburgh Airport which is technically Edinburgh's first temperature of 25°C or higher of this year.

What's the betting it won't be like that tomorrow though when I go back up there.

Very heavy rain is now falling here in Hawick with some fairly bright echoes showing up on the latest radar maps to my west.

Unbroken sunshine, 27.1 / dew 18.1 after a high of 27.6 earlier. Once again both MetO and GFS underestimated the high, and as they have 25 for tomorrow I expect another crud day to come... but first, another warm night.

TBH the thing that keeps me going through all this (as I have SAD, I think, in summer) is knowing we're losing over 3 minutes a day of daylight, and we're only a couple of weeks away from that magic time of year where the sun suddenly loses the overpowering punch that it currently has.

Meanwhile, it's still absolutely chucking it down here but the echoes on the latest radar maps no longer look as bright.

Yes John, I have recorded 25 C, the warmest day of the year so far and it's still sunny at times and 25 C at 1720!
We have rainfall streaming NE to the east and west of us at the moment but it's very pleasant just now!

Here in Hawick, it's become very dark.

The echoes on the radar maps have become brighter and more intense once again with heavy rain continuing to fall.

Sadly though, there's nothing with that which is even remotely thundery in nature.
