Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank is officially confirmed as 24.7°C which means that the increasingly long wait for the first 25+°C maximum of the year at that particular station goes on although this still makes today the warmest day of the year so far there.

Here in Hawick, the rain has now eased off a bit and the temperature has dropped back to around 18°C with a fresher feel although it is still largely overcast for now.

Here in Hawick, we have a very weird orangey coloured sky even though it's overcast.

The earlier rain had cleared for a while but the radar maps show that a wave-like disturbance appears to have formed along that cold front and brought it back westwards a  bit and northwards.

That has brought the rain back towards us and as a result, it's now raining here once again.

As expected, a warm night - it usually is when the dewpoint's so high in the afternoon. It's partly cloudy with the odd puff of wind, 17.5 / dew 15.3. The overnight low was 16.3 and yesterday's high was 27.6.

By the end of today, I will be back in Edinburgh but for now, I'm still in Hawick where this morning has started off with a few sunny intervals and quite a lot of cloud after the clearance of overnight rain.

Currently around 15°C.

Yesterday was a lovely day with near unbroken sunshine and a peak of 23.4 C which enabled me to top up my (if you can call it that) tan, this morning started off cheerful-looking but now cloud is increasing ahead of the approaching cold front. That said, that front still looks like being a weak affair producing very little rainfall by the time that get here later today. Still a warm 21.4 C & mid 80% H, though.

It's summer as usual here, of course. I've been out cutting back some (small) branches from the a large shrub that overhangs the public footpath. It's absolutely sweltering out there, and as usual the dewpoint is through the roof.

Currently partly cloudy, breezy (for once), 25.9 / dew 19.1. Despite the wind the front to the west is approaching excruciatingly slowly, and I've no doubt by the time it gets here all the rain will have been squeezed out of it.

At least tomorrow should have lower dewpoints, but in the meantime... I've a feeling another uncomfortable night will be in the offing.

I'm now back in Edinburgh after my vacation down in the Scottish Borders.

Today started off with some cloud at times down in Hawick, but with increasing amounts of sunshine.

It was then mostly sunny throughout my journey north, and this evening is ending on a mostly sunny note here in Edinburgh.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 20.4°C so today wasn't as warm as yesterday here where it is currently around 17°C.

15c here yet feels very humid. Mostly sunny but even the blue sky looks 'watery' to the point of looking white. Despite all of the humidity these last few weeks, not one single rumble of thunder has been observed (by me at least) this summer. Hopefully this coming autumn and winter will more than compensate.

As expected, it was another rotten night for sleeping. At least the fresher air has now arrived.
It's clear, calm, 12.8, dew 10.9, and that's the overnight low so far. Yesterday's high was 25.9 - and the monthly mean max is 25.8!

Meanwhile, this morning started off with plenty of sunshine but it has now clouded over a bit from the west.

34⁰ here in sunny Athens at the moment. Only a light breeze meant it felt rather warm at the Acropolis.

16.3 C - earlier it was sunny with small patches of high cloud moving swiftly NE-wards but now the amount of cloud has increased substantially. Some high cirrus and ragged contrails could be seen, indicating high-level strong winds, not much activity at ground level.

Sunny, clear and - unusually - a light wind from the west. Feeling pleasant again with low dewpoints, but they won't last: by mid-afternoon they'll be back to normal.
It's 15.1, dew 13.8, with an overnight low of 13.0. Yesterday's high was 24.2.

I went into the kitchen to get some fruit - but something wasn't right! It took me a second... there were suspicious little drops of water on the north-facing window. I legged it, excitedly, into the living room for a better view, and wow! It was actually raining. Looking at the radar confirms it, the first measurable rainfall in over a week.

It's currently overcast, breezy from the WSW with the odd gust swinging round to the WNW or NW, 19.2 / dew 15.7. There's been 0.8mm of rain so far, with a peak rate of 6mm/hour, enough to give everything a soaking outside. The high so far is 24.2, and the forecast calls for temperatures to drop a degree or so at most between now and tomorrow morning.

EDIT: I've been outside to smell the petrichor, and in the process saved a pigeon from being pounced on by one of the local moggies, who stalked off in a huff!
