I've now just seen some lightning here in Edinburgh which is all looking rather spectacular with frequent thunder continuing along with the heavy rain.

In addition to that, the radar maps show a line of very bright and intense echoes just to my west with quite a lot of lightning strikes.

The sferics map shows the extent of the lightning well:

Here in Edinburgh, the thunder and lightning appears to have stopped as the line of storms on the radar map appears to be breaking up a bit over this part of the world with even a few hints of blue sky to my SW.

FWIW there is a sudden burst of AC to the west of me. Even some showers over the Channel. And a small blob to the west of Dorchester that wasn't there earlier. Not a wall to wall sunshine day I think. Warm yes.

The storms have pepped up a bit just to our east as they move away but I've still just heard a few further rumbles of thunder in the distance from that as that happens.

No thunder or lightning here so far but some very strong gusty wind.

We ended up getting a few close C-G lightning strikes with booming thunder followed by a brief but intense downpour.
