That once again, makes today our coolest day of this month so far.

The earlier patchy rain appears to have cleared for now although there's still a lot of cloud around with a total of just 1.7 hours of sunshine being recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Currently around 13°C here in Edinburgh.

There was a light shower of rain earlier on this morning but although that was soon followed by a brighter period which brought a little bit of sunshine, it's still mostly cloudy here as I write.

Currently around 16°C, so today is slightly warmer than yesterday though not by much and it's still not quite as warm here as it should be at this time of the year.

The last 11 days have been cool with some chilly nights. This is bringing down the August mean temperature. It's currently 15.7 C (+0.9 above normal), but trending downwards. The rest of the month looks cool and unsettled up here

Story of the summer here - sunny and calm, as usual.

14.9, dew 14.1, with the overnight low being 12.0. There's condensation on the outside of the windows!
Yesterday's high was 23.9.

FWIW, the monthly mean here so far is 19.6, +1.5 compared to the 91-20 mean and +3.1 compared to the old 61-90 mean.

A very dull, windy and at times, damp start to today here in Edinburgh and so far, this has been a very windy month overall with the mean wind speed at Edinburgh Gogarbank almost up to one and a half times the 1991-2020 August average.

However, it's also a very warm and humid start to this morning with the temperature here in Edinburgh already at around 17°C.

Sunny, just a few clouds in the sky to the north and west. It's very warm and unsurprisingly warmer than the Met Office's text forecast was expecting. The same will happen again tomorrow, of course.
There's a light SE'ly breeze and it's currently 25.9, dew 14.7. The high so far is 26.1.

There is an area of developing rain over me which wasn't forecast earlier.
And what seems to be a significant heavier blob forming over the Channel.
Still, it feels pleasant enough with no wind at 19.5C.
