Impressive line of thunderstorms moving up from Brittany. I can hear thunder already and have had to put the lights on.

They are on their final approach and just off the Bill. 
I wonder if they will get some lift coming over the Ridgeway and recover their mojo for a sound and light show over me.

Looks like everything is further west then originally forecasted, and meanwhile allowing some serious heat to build in the original warning zone.

It's raining now and almost flat calm and sort of dark. The forecast for showers 'sweeping' through seems a tad optimistic.
That implies fast moving storms, which this one isn't. Not that I'm complaining.
If the current one continues on its current course, I might well have a light and sound show in due course.

We had the most awesome thunderstorm here in Frome, lasted for about 45 minutes but it was the best I've seen for a long time, just wished it was at night, it would have been quite a show.
Previously JimC. joined back then in 2009. Frome, N/E Somerset, 125mtrs asl.

Thunderstorm with heavy tropical like heavy rain.
Thunderstorm has been ongoing since the early hours under this plume coming from the Cherbourg direction, oddly the lightning detectors aren't picking up very many of the individual strikes for some reason.

I got to witness some convective activity last weekend, here in Southern france, a couple of nights it was directly overhead in the small hours, extremely loud and bright, and then Sunday night we watched the sky light up in the SW for many hours, whilst it remained clear overhead. The lightning was occuring at least 50 miles away, if not further, and there was no thunder, that was pretty amazing. It was rather reminiscent of the Tom Cruise War of the worlds film, it was so bright.

Couple of flashes of lightning with thunder around 12.30pm  here near Eastbourne and some very heavy rain  25mm un the past hour  30 mm total today so far

Why would you want flash flooding! Yesterday was awful and not forecast. But today seems dry and the Test match will start on time, could do with some sun though to dry things out

You can have rain, even downpours, without it flooding you know... it'd be nice to not have to rake leaves in late August, something I've never had to do before in my life! Looking at what's left of the lawn, there's enough fallen for another raking session.
