Conclusion

Overall, August 2024 was just marginally warmer than average here, but with the mean temperature for the month falling within half a degree of the 1991-2020 average which is enough for me to able to say that this was really just an average month in terms of the temperatures.

It was an unsettled month overall but the actual rainfall total was close to average but very slightly below the 1991-2020 average. However, it was a fairly wet month in terms of the number of official rain days and that is what tells us how unsettled the month of August was.

In spite of all of that though, August 2024 was actually sunnier than average here. It was the summer's only sunnier and average month and much more importantly, it was only our first sunnier than average month since January.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
