A rather damp, dull and dreary start to today here in Edinburgh despite the fact that we are still under high pressure (currently 1030.0 mb at Edinburgh Gogarbank).
In days of old, there might still have been certain circumstances in which we would experience anti-cyclonic gloom under this sort of setup but my memories of high pressure at this time of the year would tend to conjure up memories of clear skies, plenty of sunshine during the day and some frost and possibly fog at night.
Regardless of whether it was a sunny high or a cloudy high though, it would at least be guaranteed to be dry. I don't recall this sort of utter C@*P from high pressure which we're getting just now in my past memories and it would appear that a sunny and clear high with frost and fog at nights is becoming more and more of a rarity these days.
Anyway and with that cloud cover, the temperatures during the night have once again been refusing to drop, so we're not getting much of a diurnal temperature range at the moment.
Currently around 10°C here in Edinburgh.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
