After a dull start, it has become much brighter with some welcome Autumn sunshine. Something of a pinch in the air at 9.8 C & low 80% H but that's normal for this time of year and winds have fallen light.

A bright and breezy start here today. It's very fresh outdoors in the breeze, it's now 9.2c in the back garden 65%rh but the cloud is now building up so probably won't be so bright for very much longer here.

It's been a long time since I last posted on here and some of you may well have been wondering where I am.

The reason for my recent lack of posts is because we have just had our longest spell of boring and uninteresting weather (or rather, a lack of any actual "weather") on record and at least  some of you will already know that I'm just not going to post anything on here when absolutely nothing is happening in terms of our weather which is even the least bit interesting.

Even as I write, there is still not absolutely nothing happening in terms of any actual weather here.

Nevertheless, I do at least finally have something interesting to report on here at long, long last as the temperature under clear skies here in Edinburgh has already dropped to around -1°C as early as just before 9pm GMT (21:00 UTC) with the first official air frost of this month being recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank and Edinburgh Airport as a result.

At 03.40hrs: 2°C with bright moonlight - and it looks as if there could be a frost. Hard to tell. Could just be moonlight.

Checked again at 04.30hrs. -2°C with light frost on cars and lawn. Moonlight made it look deceptively icy or snowy.

Partly cloudy, with all surfaces damp after 1mm of overnight rain. There's a light breeze from the north.

6.5, dew 5.4; the overnight low was 6.4 and the high so far is 7.8.

A hard frost with a minimum of -5 C so most surfaces white. Clear sky, a lovely late Autumn morning to get up the hill!
