I see there is currently a 23°C temperature difference parts of the NW Highlands (below -10°C) and parts of the south coast at +13°C.
Somewhere  in the middle here at -0.6°C currently with a fresh covering of overnight snow on top of yesterday’s.

0.3c here now with a good depth of snow, as it’s been coming down all night.  Just a light flurry now and the sky is brightening slightly, so I think it’s about passed over.

Nevertheless, last night was once again our coldest night of the autumn so far with an overnight temperature of -5.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank which also makes last night our third coldest night of this year so far and our coldest night since 8 February 2024 despite the fact that we're still not yet into the actual meteorological winter.

With that though, today has also started off on a bright and sunny note once again.

Currently around -1°C here in Edinburgh.

Up to 3.0C and 0.0C DP now but there was 5 minutes of snow at 8.20am. I'm hoping for some clear skies at some point in this spell because we've had almost none for a month!

Dull and gloomy with the rain easing off but there is more of a chill in the air at 5.4 C & mid 90% H but thankfully very little wind.

Have recorded 18 mm of rain since it started raining yesterday evening here at Folkestone. If it is late January or early February, we'd have 18 mm of cold rain. 😂

Axl Rose sums up today perfectly. It's been mostly overcast, wet and frankly miserable most of the day. At least the rain is meant to clear off overnight...

Today's maximum temperature is officially confirmed as 2.4°C which once again, makes today our coldest day of this autumn so far though only just and no more.

The frost has persisted all day once again, though not quite to the same extent as it did yesterday.

Despite clear skies though, the temperatures aren't really dropping as quickly as it has done on other recent nights and even as I write, the temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was still slightly above freezing at +0.2°C whereas we were already well below freezing by now on other recent nights such as last night.

A proper winter-like day today.

Cold, crisp, clear, with the stars shining brightly, and breezy from the NW. The latter is unusual given how cold it is.

Very clear, with some very high, wispy cloud and very crunchy on the grass -0.6c in the back garden. The breeze is also mot so nice and freezes your skin no trouble at all! So glad the dog didn't want to be out too long.
