perhaps man city have now replaced arsenal as one of the "big four" . You need big money to cover the inflated costs of players wages. The game is being ruined by money and clubs have to get into debt or rely on foreign billionaires to keep up.

Just checked and it wasn't villa, but pompey that beat reading 7-4, September 29th 2007. It may have been the following weekend that spurs beat them 6-4. I remember Steve Coppell saying how gutted he was that they'd scored 4 goals away from home twice and still lost on both occasions.

Funnily enough, the situation that Portsmouth faced a year or two back was exactly what I was thinking of. They were living well beyond their means for a while and very nearly paid the ultimate price. I think the day will some at some point in the future where all clubs, both the big boys and the provincial clubs will need to take a reality check, because if they don't it could be goodnight Vienna for some of them. The game cannot go in living in this fantasy world that it seems to exist in nowadays forever.

Wenger came and tried to play the same way he would if he had a full squad to choose from, it was a complete disaster! Poor as Arsenal was that's got to be one of the best displays of direct attacking football I've seen in a very long time. They'll still be those claiming we don't play attractive football!  One thing that annoyed me was United fans leaving early before the final whistle, unbelievable! You witness you team do that and don't stay until the end to applaud them.

This off season, both Scott Parker (small fee) and Joey Barton (free!) have been available - both the exact sort of player Arsenal need.


Yet both ignored by Wenger.


The guy just seems more pig-headed than anything these days.

I thought he did very well indeed - lasting 7 minutes before being stretchered off was a lot longer than many had him down for.
