Sheer stupidity from Wolves and I reckon they're doomed for relegation now.
I can see some logic in getting rid of a manager who no longer seems to be able to rally the team, in favour of a bringing in a whole new regime to introduce new tactics/training/etc and get a lift out of players trying to impress the brand new gaffer.
But to get shot of the manager and then, after a frantic search, appoint the old manager's assistant is pointless.
I wonder how much a part the timing of McCarthy's sacking at the end of the transfer window had on not being able recruit a proven manager? Without the ability to re-jig the team a bit, it would be a much less attractive proposition. Then again, I do wonder whether the timing was deliberate so Wolves wouldn't have to come under pressure to shell out on a few new players the new manager wanted.
Nothing against Wolves, but for their sheer stupidity/penny-pinching, I'd not be sorry to see them relegated.
