Liverpool's gamble on giving Dalglish the manager's job has backfired spectacularly.

I said at the time I wasn't convinced he was the right choice (I don't particularly rate his first spell, and think he started the long decline at Anfield, with the poor quality replacements for our legendary players). Being out of the game so long tells me he is limited in his grasp of the modern game. He gave the team a boost when he joined, but his tactics appear to be easily countered and he can no longer get the players up for games.

The problem the Liverpool owners have now is that it'd be sacrilege to sack 'King Kenny' and there's a large group of fans who would be horrified. Yet it's clear that Liverpool need someone who can mastermind a revolution at the club, someone with new ideas. Would NESV bankroll such a move, though???

This season was all too predictable. New manager at Liverpool gets given money, he buys a bunch of flops, Liverpool fans get excited. It happened with Souness, Evans-Houllier, Houllier, Benitez and now Liverpool. I have no idea why over the last twenty years Liverpool cannot buy some decent players. The money has been there (all be it not in City style) but it has always been squandered. Dalglish's shite excuses and jokes are becoming just awful. Blaming posts, crossbars, referees, linesmen.

When they won the Carling cup, it was cringe-worthy hearing the former players predicting it would turn their season around. Winning the egg cup has done nothing but paper over the cracks of what a cack squad Dalglish has put together. It sure has turned the season around.

It's been twenty years of excuses and the old "he needs to be given more time" and "next season will be the one".

I know one or two will be surprised but it saddens me seeing this great club in such decline. I have a feeling if this keeps up and they remain mid-table, their few decent players will want out. They won't be able to attract the talented players either.

Yes, I know the the Torres money covered much of that but FFS the pikey and Downing are probably worth a combined £25m if I'm being generous.

There's little doubt Liverpool have missed Lucas this season (never thought I'd say that) as Spearing clearly isn't up to the task. Without Lucas the Liverpool midfield is lightweight - even with Gerrard, who I noticed was still trying out his Hollywood balls yesterday. The game is too quick for that nowadays, which is probably why Huddlestone at Spurs, for example, is probably a dead man walking.

You gotta admire Man Utd, probably one of their weakest squads for years and they are going to end up walking the Premier League - again!

Jesus wept, that's three points for Sunderland in the upcoming game with Spurs. Foy has been named as ref.

Looks like the title race is definately now over.

But they only have themselves to blame after starting the season so well. The Tevez fiasco seemed to start the rot but Mancini's poor man management skills and tactics also responsible.

I think Mansoor should sack him. They need a fresh start for next season

I think it's more a case of how crap the premier league is when a poor Utd can win the title by a margin. The clubs are too full of greedy selfish players who think more of themselves than their employers. All the badge kissing bullshite is so sickening, it's more a case of wallet kissing for the majority. Ferguson, give him credit still has his players by the balls. He obviously could see what a cockroach Tevez is, he was gone.

Swansea v Newcastle

Should be an interesting game, Newcastle are flying high, however Swansea are playing well at home.

Swansea are losing currently 0-1 to Newcastle, although it would seem that its against the run of play.

A win for Newcastle would lift them into 5th, 2 points behind Spurs and Arsenal, pretty good really.

Papiss Cisse is a hell of a player. Newcastle have a very decent first-choice strikeforce. No fluke that they are in the Euro places this season.

It probably wont happen but dont rule out the magpies for 4th, Ben Arfa, Ba and Cisse look quality. Especially Cisse he looks like an amazing player at this early stage.

Another load of shite served up at Anfield. Mark Lawrence was right the other night, Liverpool only have about four decent (top four) players in the whole squad.

Looking on the bright side, Chelsea must have used up a large slice of their luck for the remainder of this season today!  Seasons can be won and lost on the decision of the men in black and Wigan were clearly denied today but so too might Arsenal or Spurs come the end of the season based on this result.  Some decisions are marginal and officials sometimes get them wrong (Adebayor had three goals incorrectly ruled out for offside within a matter of weeks earlier in the season) but by all accounts these were inexcusible.  I'll reserve my judgement until I see the goals tonight but from what Roberto Martinez has said he came as close as anyone has ever said to saying the linesman deliberately ignored the offsides!  Must have thought he was at Old Trafford!!

Must have thought he was at Old Trafford!!

Indeed!

How many more times are Manchester United going to get these virtually corrupt decisions?

If the linesman acn't see that offside he should be sacked forthwith and given a white stick.

It does seem, judging by what I've heard of the Chelsea v Wigan game, that the bigger clubs continually get these ludicrous calls.

Watching the plastic fans sat down like the good little tourists they are is vomit inducing. This is not football. It's a souless happy clappy persversion of the game.
